Cronenberg

| Direto canadense, um dos mestres do terror no final do século 20. Passou da fase das pequenas produções, que formaram uma horda de fãs, para grandes produções em perder seu estilo bizarro e chegado em violência explícita (que não o recomenda aos de estômago mais fraco). Provavelmente, o mais original dos realizadores do gênero, é respeitado pela crítica, quie o aclamou na refilmagem do clássico A Mosca da Cabeça Branca (de Kurt Newman, 1958) em 1986. Filho de uma pianista e um redator de histórias em quadrinhos, fez estudos científicos e depois literários e em 1966 dirigiu seu primeiro curta, Transfer. A seguir dois média-metragens, Stereo (1969) e Crimes of the Future (1970). Fez um estágio de uma no na TV francesa. De volta ao Canadá, trabalhou para a TV local, estreando no cinema em 1975. Dirigiu Jeremy Irons num papel duplo em Gêmeos, Mórbida Semelhança, pelo qual foi premiado no Festival de Cinema Fantástico de Avoriaz e, em seguida, adaptou o clássico romance beat "O Almoço Nu", de William Burroughs, em Mistérios e Paixões. Voltou a trabalhar com Jeremy Irons em seu filme seguinte, M. Butterfly, adaptação de uma peça da Broadway escrita por David Henry Hwang. Crash - Estranhos Prazeres, sua polêmica adaptação da obra de J.G. Ballard, com James Spader e Holly Hunter, obteve o Grande Prêmio do Júri no Festival de Cannes. Cronenberg tem aparecido com freqüência como ator em fitas suas e alheias como The Grace of God, de Gerald Lecuyer; Last Night, 1998, de Ron McKellar; Ressurrection, 1999, de Russell Mulcahy; Jason X, de James Isaac, etc. |
